Located in the Heights of Brae between Dingwall and Strathpeffer.
One of Scotland's most famous writers, Neil Gunn (1891-1973) was born in the Caithness fishing village of Dunbeath and many of his finest works, such as The Silver Darlings and Highland River, reflect his experiences of growing up in the north of Scotland.
From the parking lot cross the bridge and walk to the memorial. Take a look and then continue to follow the path to a short distance to the observation circle. This plaque set in the ground identifies what is seen from this lovely view. Looking downhill and toward the road you will see a tree in the corner near the fence (I believe it is broom). Under the most uphill part of the tree is what you seek.
