The Ness Islands are a popular area for short walks, about a mile from Inverness City Centre. Follow the A82 Glenurquhart Road heading SW from the City Centre, then turn off left onto Bught Drive shortly before the swing bridge over the Caledonian Canal (Tomnahurich Bridge). Follow Bught Drive around to the right then left, past the Leisure Centre and Ice Centre. At the end, you'll see the suspension bridge ahead of you - turn right to find the parking area nearby.
Cross the bridge. At the end, turn right and walk along the path for 50 paces. You'll see a tree stump to the left of the path, with foliage growing on top. Around the back, the box is in a hole, behind a stone, at ground level.
Please take care as this is a popular area all year round.
